Exciting times for Reclip. It! I received a letter from Instyle Magazine a few days ago informing us that we’ve been selected among a few dozen companies as “Best of Web 2012” and we were one of 8 companies in the Money-Saving Sites category.
This is a huge honor to our young coupon site, that we just publicly launched in August (the site has been in private beta since March and public beta since May 2012). It’s rather fun that we got mailed a physical magazine and had to buy a few copies of it since the accolade isn’t available online. We did see some minor traffic increase in November (when the issue went on the magazine racks) but nothing significant, although the recognition and credibility is still nice (what more with Halle Berry on cover!). Sometimes, the old school ways of getting something physical in your hands is priceless; it’s like winning a real life trophy! 😉
A shoutout to other 500Startups companies that were recognized by Instyle on the list are: LovewithFood, KiwiCrate, TaskRabbit, and Snapette. And my friends’ startups Ahalife, QuincyApparel, Consmr, Minted, Buyosphere, and Spreecast. And my personal faves Fab, Everlane, TrueandCo, WarbyParker, Path, HotelTonight, and Songza.
Edited on Nov 12th, 2012:
On Nov 12th, 2012, Reclip. It was also selected as by DailyTekk among Top 100 best startups, gadgets, apps and websites in a given category. We were the “#1 Tool to Shop Smarter.” People often ask me if I hired a PR firm. Hell no. We don’t have the budget to and wouldn’t budget for it anyway. Besides, organic mentions are always the best kind because money can’t buy them. I’m comforted to know that although I sometimes doubt our new “design-driven” (and ad-less) coupon site will work revenue-wise, at least it seems like we’re at least onto something. Fingers crossed!
